Restaurant Review of the Month - AUGUST

CASA TAGORO, Los Cristianos

Casa Tagoro lies behind the main street in Los Cristianos and is easy to miss. But don’t miss it!  The food is a feast for the eyes and for the appetite, too

The entrance is a few steps down from the street and our reserved table was ready for us as we entered. I do recommend reserving, especially at the week-end. Our waiter was with us immediately and offered us the wine and food menus, pointing out the seasonal specials menu.

The wine list is mainly Spanish and we ordered a Rioja and some sparkling water, whilst choosing our food. My wife went with the special menu while I decided to choose from the house menu. The house menu is not extensive but this I suspect is a deliberate choice, in order to ensure the high quality and presentation of the dishes.

Every diner gets the bread platter to start, with hot white and wholegrain cobs, crab mousse and butter, olive oil and rock salt.  Our main choices were quail breast wrapped in bacon on a creamy risotto, smoked salmon and horseradish with caviar, langoustines in a piquant sauce and a solomillo with fois gras and steamed vegetables.

Each was well presented, perfectly cooked and by the time we had finished eating we were comfortably replete. The wine formed a perfect accompaniment to all the dishes.

Our waiter and the rest of the staff all spoke good English and Spanish and the service was quick, efficient and very friendly. We never had to wait more than a few moments after finishing a course, before the dishes were cleared and the next one ready.

In keeping with its Austrian origins, our final experience in Casa Tagoro was, of course, the apfelstrudel with whipped cream and ice cream and was the perfect finale to our meal.

This restaurant offers high quality food at appropriate prices and is a perfect spot for a romantic evening meal, an anniversary dinner, a birthday treat or even a family get-together. We will certainly be going back there again and I know you wouldn’t be disappointed if you were to join us there!
